Solar Tax Credit
News (ITC)

The House of Representatives has voted to end the 30% Federal Solar Tax Credit (ITC) early, with a new expiration date of December 31, 2025. If passed by the Senate, this decision would impact both homeowners buying and leasing solar. For buyers, the ITC allows you to claim 30% of your system cost as a federal tax credit. For those leasing, the companies offering those leases typically rely on the credit to keep monthly payments low. If the ITC is eliminated, those savings may shrink.

With this announcement, a surge in demand is expected. Homeowners rushing to lock in the tax credit could lead to delays in permitting, utility approvals, and placed in service. Since the system must be placed in service by the end of 2025 to qualify, any backup could put your eligibility at risk.
