Your Installer Closed?

You Still Have Somewhere to Turn.

A lot of the solar companies that appeared over the last decade are no longer around and their customers are often left with a system they don't fully understand, a warranty they can't reach, and no one to call. Earthlight is here to help.

If you own your system, we can step in. We'll work to pull it onto a monitoring platform we support, troubleshoot remotely where possible, order parts, and send a technician when one is needed. In many cases we can identify the issue from photos and your monitoring data before we ever roll a truck.

We regularly help with:

Systems from installers that have gone out of business or left the area

Homes purchased with solar already on the roof

Older systems that have never been serviced or explained

Systems we're an authorized service partner for through the current warranty administrator

WHEN TO CALL FOR SERVICE

How to Tell Your System Needs Attention

Solar is easy to forget about — it works quietly in the background for years. When something does go wrong, homeowners usually notice it one of two ways:

01

A monitoring alert on your app showing that production has dropped or stopped.

02

A surprise electric bill after months of low or no bills — often the first sign a system has been offline for weeks.

One of the most common causes we see is simple: another contractor — siding, roofing, or electrical — switched the system off during their work and never turned it back on. A quick service visit gets you producing again, and a repair usually pays for itself in recovered energy savings.

TIP: Check in about once a week. Open your monitoring app and glance at production — pick a routine, like Sunday during the game, so a problem never goes unnoticed for a full billing cycle.

THE EARTHLIGHT APP

One Place to Watch Your Whole System

Earthlight customers can track production, battery status, and overall system health from a single monitoring app — and generate a service ticket right from their phone when something looks off. Residential solar typically reports through Enlighten (Enphase); battery systems report through Tesla or FranklinWH. Whatever platform you're on, we'll make sure you're set up and know exactly what to look for.

PROACTIVE SYSTEM CARE for businesses

Commercial Operations & Maintenance (O&M)

For businesses, municipalities, and property owners, uptime is money. Our commercial O&M services protect performance, reduce downtime, and catch issues before they cost you production.

That includes preventative maintenance, performance monitoring and diagnostics, inverter and electrical repairs, underperformance troubleshooting, and long-term service planning — with a maintenance proposal built around your specific site.

Solar Panel Removal & Reinstallation

Replacing or repairing a roof under an existing solar array? Our remove-and-reinstall (R&R) service keeps it simple. We carefully remove your system, store the equipment safely on-site during the roofing work, and reinstall it cleanly and to code once the new roof is complete.

We can perform R&R even if another company installed your system — the perfect time to inspect components and check for wear before everything goes back up.

How It Works

1

Removal

Our team safely removes the array (typically a half-day on-site).

2

Roofing

Your new roof goes on and passes inspection.

3

Reinstall

We remount and reconnect the system (usually a full day) and confirm it's producing.

Note: Most service visits are handled by one or two technicians; a full removal typically uses two to three, based on roof pitch and height, for safety.

UNDERSTANDING YOUR COVERAGE

Warranties, Explained Clearly

Warranty coverage is one of the most confusing parts of owning solar — especially if your paperwork is missing or your original installer is gone. Here's how it generally works, and how we help:

Manufacturer warranties

Most inverters carry around a 10-year warranty. Enphase microinverters are typically 20–25 years, and solar panels usually 20–25 years. Extended warranties may also apply.

Earthlight workmanship warranty

Every system we install is backed by a 12-year workmanship warranty, including coverage on the roof penetrations we make.

If your installer is gone

We'll help track down what's still covered through the equipment manufacturer and current warranty administrators, and handle the back-end coordination for you.

We'll always tell you what's covered — and what isn't — before any work begins.

A Note on Leased Systems

Service and repairs are simplest when you own your system. If your solar is leased or on a PPA, your lease provider is generally responsible for maintenance, so that's usually the fastest path to a fix — start with them.

That said, Earthlight is an authorized service partner for several providers, so it's worth a quick call to see whether your system qualifies. Not sure whether you own or lease? We can help you figure that out.

Simple, Transparent Service Pricing

No memberships required and no surprises. Service and repair visits are billed by time and materials, and removal & reinstall is quoted per panel, so you know the cost up front. Because a down system is losing you savings every month, most repairs pay for themselves quickly — and you'll get a clear estimate before we begin. Note: *Pricing may vary depending on complexity of your system.

SERVICE & SUPPORT

Frequently asked service questions

  • What does Earthlight's service department do?

Our in-house team handles repairs, routine maintenance, system assessments, inverter and microinverter swaps, monitoring support, and panel removal & reinstall — for solar, battery storage, EV charging, lighting, and roofing, across CT, MA, and OR.

  • Can you service my system if another company installed it?

Yes. In many cases we can service, repair, and maintain existing systems even if Earthlight didn't install them, as long as you own the system.

  • What if the company that installed my system went out of business?

We help all the time. If you own your system, we'll get it onto a monitoring platform we support, troubleshoot, coordinate parts and warranty claims, and get a technician out when needed.

  • How do I know if my solar system needs service?

The two most common signs are a monitoring alert showing reduced or stopped production, and an unexpected electric bill after months of low bills.

  • How much does a service call cost?

Service and repairs are billed by time and materials, and removal & reinstall is quoted per panel. You'll always get a clear estimate up front.

  • What is solar remove and reinstall (R&R)?

R&R is when your panels and equipment are carefully removed before roof work begins, stored safely on-site, and reinstalled once the new roof is complete.

  • Can you coordinate both the roofing and the solar?

Yes. We manage removal, temporary storage, roofing, and reinstallation so the whole project stays organized and on schedule.

  • What's covered under warranty on an Earthlight installation?

A 12-year workmanship warranty, including roof penetrations. Equipment is also covered by manufacturer warranties — typically ~10 years for inverters and 20–25 years for microinverters and panels.

  • My system is leased — can you still help?

Your lease provider is usually responsible for maintenance, so start there. Earthlight is an authorized service partner for several providers, so it's worth a quick call to check.

  • Do I need to monitor my system?

Yes — a quick weekly check of your monitoring app is the easiest way to catch a problem early.
